Meet the Author

Melody Walker-Brown

Christian. Educator. Storyteller. Wife. Mom.

💬 “Mommy… will you die too?”

That was the question my daughter Sarai asked after her beloved Grandma CeCe went to the hospital… and never came home.
She was heartbroken, confused, and scared.
And honestly? So was I.

I was still recovering from my own hospitalization, and suddenly, my sweet girl began to connect the dots. She feared I would disappear too.

Her questions were brave. Her fears were real.
And that’s when I knew—we needed a story.

✨ Why I Wrote Where is Grandpa?

Where is Grandpa? is my love letter to families navigating grief and loss—especially when kids are asking the kinds of questions that tug at your heart and tighten your throat.

This book gently explains death through the lens of Seventh-day Adventist beliefs and biblical truth, offering peace, clarity, and a promise: death is not the end for those who trust in Jesus.

Meet Sarai

Where is Grandpa? isn’t just a book—it’s a ministry.
It’s the story I needed that night.
It’s the story I hope will help you talk to the children in your life—whether they’ve lost a grandparent, a friend, or are just starting to wonder about life and death.

It’s a story full of tears, truth, and the kind of hope only heaven can offer.

The Story Behind The Book

💭 “Mommy… why didn’t Grandma CeCe come back?”

That question came from my daughter Sarai after we lost someone very dear to us—her Grandma CeCe.

One hospital stay.
One goodbye that never came.
And a thousand questions from a little girl trying to understand what happened.

As a mom, my heart ached.
As a believer, I wanted to give her hope.
As a woman recovering from my own hospital stay, I was overwhelmed.

Then came the deeper fear:
“Are you going to die too, Mommy?”

That one broke me.

🕊 A Story That Had to Be Written

I didn’t have perfect answers. But I had faith.
I had God’s Word.
And I had a little girl who needed both truth and tenderness.

So I wrote this story.
A story that would explain what happens when someone dies.
A story that would offer peace without pretending the pain isn’t real.
A story that could say: Yes, we miss them. Yes, it hurts. But no—this isn’t the end.

Because Jesus promises so much more.

💛 If you’re here, you’re not alone.

Whether you’re grieving, guiding a child through their questions, or just looking for a gentle way to talk about death—this book was made for you.

And if it blesses even one little heart?
Then every tear that inspired it was worth it.
